Endure Hardness

Daily Soul’s Nourishment (DSN) Devotional By Pst Julius U. Bethel, Pastor of the Bible Practising Church

TOPIC:  Endure Hardness

BIBLE REFERENCE: 2 Timothy 2:3

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

THE MESSAGE: It was Robert Schuller who said, through his famous book: “Tough times never last, but tough people do.” Another person rightly said, ”When the going becomes tough, the tough get going.”

Those two quotes speak about you, child of God! You cannot be bent or broken, if you choose not to do so. By the new life in you, you can weather any storm of life because “greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Tough times, “dark” days, challenging times and the “evil day” of your life will always show up at one point or the other. When such times come, all you need to do is, endure.

How do you endure hardness? You go through it without murmuring or complaining. You don’t get angry with God or anyone for your predicament. You don’t seek to come out of it through any means that is not scriptural. You don’t backslide or drop the Bible. Rather, you read it, meditate on it and pray in the situation.

If you don’t give up too soon, you will get over it triumphantly. The hard situation you are facing now is but for a while. It has an expiration date. It will soon get to its expiration date. You will come out of it.

You may be facing persecution right now because of the Lord Jesus you have embraced or because of your uncompromising stance on holiness. Endure it. God knows about the persecution and is telling you to hold on to your faith. Ask for grace to endure. God will see you through, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Every hardness comes to make you hard in Christ.

PRAYER POINT: Pray that the grace to endure hardness will come upon you.
