Morning devotion is an important and helpful practice that every Christian home should do on a daily basis before resuming the activities of the day.
It is a must for every home, and should be observed as long as the family is in existence.
What is morning devotion?
Morning devotion is a brief period of time in the morning set aside by a group of persons in order to worship and have fellowship with God and with one another.
Before we look at the seven importance of family devotion, which is the focus of this post, let’s look at the activities that are carried out during morning devotion.
Activities That Make Up Morning Devotion
- Prayer. Prayer is communing with God. Everyone taking part in the devotion should commune with God.
- Singing: It is good to sing and praise God for His goodness, faithfulness, love, protection, etc. Songs of different kinds that truly exalt God should be sung. Each member of the family can take turns to a song.
- Bible Reading. God speaks to us when we read the Bible. So, the Bible should be read and explained to the understanding of all. Each member should make a commitment to obey whatever instruction was given from the word.
- Bible Discussions. Members should be allowed to make explanatory contribution to the message of the Bible read.
- Bible Memorisation. Memorising the Bible is a very practise. It helps us to remember the word in the time of need.
