The Bible, in Romans 12:6, says, “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith.” This implies that we all have diverse gifts, talents, and abilities with which we should serve the Body of Christ – the Church.
You have one service or the other to render unto the Lord in His church. Your service is needed!
Every believer, irrespective of his or her status, race, or background, as far as he or she is in Christ, can be a blessing to the Body of Christ.
Every member of the Body of Christ is useful just as every part of a human body is useful right where it is placed on the body by God.
There is no useless member in the Body of Christ. You are not useless but useful.
The gift, talent or special ability God has blessed you with is so that you will use it to bless others. It is just what somebody somewhere in the church is looking for. Don’t hide it. Put it into use in the church or ministry you belong to.
There is something you can do in the church for God’s glory. Why not pray and let God help you to discover it? Why not go for counseling, too? Once you discover it, go ahead and use it to bless God’s people.
Be useful in the church. Don’t just be a bench warmer who only wants to be served by others and not to serve others.
There is a grace you carry that is meant for the church. Therefore, BE A SERVANT; serve the church!
The Lord may be leading you to a particular area of work. Whatever area of work He is leading you to, do not feel you are not worthy or qualified.
Such feeling of unworthiness or of not being qualified is the more reason God would want to even use you more because it is a sign of humility, a quality God so much appreciates in His servants.
Feeling unfit for the work would naturally make you depend on God for strength and wisdom. It would make you pray a lot for His help. And, when a man depends on God that way great things begin to happen in the life of such man.
Services To Render To God In The Church
There are different areas of work in the church you can
be involved in:
- You can work as an usher.
- You can sing in the choir.
- You can work as a Sunday school teacher.
- You can work in the youth or children’s department.
- You can join the prayer band/intercessors team.
- There is the evangelism/follow-up team to join.
- Traffic/Crowd control is another great section.
- You can be a sanitation worker and lots more.
There is so much to be done in the church of God. The work is great but the laborers are scarce or unavailable. Luke.10.2 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.”
Dear reader, do not be idle in the church. Be a church worker.
Find something to do in the church, no matter how ‘small’ it looks. Be humble and serve the people of God with joy and gladness.
Do not despise the days of small beginnings. If you are faithful in the little assignment the Lord gives you to do, He will give you
something greater tomorrow.
1Cor.15.58, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
Serving God is never a waste of one’s time. It is never in vain, too, provided it is done in holiness, righteousness, and truth.
If you give your service to God, He will make sure that you are greatly blessed, for nobody serves God and remains the same.
