6 Important Steps To Get The Most Important Thing In Life

Text: Luke 10: 38 – 42

Memory Verse: Luke 10: 42 ” But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.“

Man values everything. What is important to me may not be important to you. Similarly, what is important to you may not be important to me. That is how life is meant to be. However, there are a few things that are essential to both of us, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Nobody can survive without them.

People only go after things that are important to them. They will go to any length to obtain those items. Some people will go to great lengths to endure pain in order to obtain something that is very important to them.

Although everything is important to man, there is one thing that is MORE IMPORTANT and more necessary to man than everything else.
The most important thing for every man to have is peace with God, his Maker and Creator.
Everyone, young and old, rich and poor, educated and uneducated, requires peace with God.

The forgiveness of one’s sins brings about peace with God. Forgiveness brings peace and justification, whereas sin brings guilt and condemnation.

Forgiveness comes from God. He takes great joy in clearing up someone’s prior performance and sinful history.

Psalm 103:3a says, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities“. Irrespective of what sins you have committed, and what your past record of sin is, forgiveness and peace from God are available.

What Are The Important Steps To Take To Get The Most Important Thing?

Here are five simple steps to take:

One. Acknowledge That You Are A Sinner

Admitting or accepting the fact that you are a sinner merely because God’s word and your conscience support this conclusion is known as acknowledging your sinfulness. By denying your sin, you are calling God a liar because His word says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God“(Roman 3:23). So, in order to obtain the most important thing in life, you must first admit to God that you are a sinner. Once that occurs, you will be one step closer to obtaining the most important thing in life.

Two. Repent Of Your Sins

Repentance is the act of having a sincere sense of regret or remorse for past behavior that violates God’s moral standards. You feel awful when you consider the things you did and realize that God and even other people don’t approve of them. In Mark chapter 6: 12, the Bible says, “And They went ou,t and preached that men should repent.” It is a command from God that men( who are all sinners before God) should repent. It is a necessary step to getting the most important thing in life!

Three. Confess Your Sins And Ask For Forgiveness. If you say you are sorry for what you did to someone, courtesy requires you to apologize and ask for forgiveness. Isn’t that correct? Your sins are an affront to God. As a result, you must ask Him for forgiveness. He will pardon. His words says, Psalm 103: 3, “Who forgiveth thine iniquities” revealing that, it is in His nature to forgive sins. However, you must first confess to God all of your sins in prayer, as many as you can recall, before you make your request for pardon.

Four. Forsake Your Sins And Past Life. It is necessary to give up sin that has been admitted and pardoned. You must entirely abstain from all of your sins and a life of sin, vowing to never return to them. All of those transgressions must no longer carry any value for you. Turning a full blind eye to your sins is forsaking them. Proverbs 28:13 says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Therefore, it is not enough to confess your sins; you also need to forsake them from your heart in order to avoid doing them again.

Five. Receive Jesus Christ Into Your Heart By Faith. Jesus Christ sincerely wants to enter your heart and take up residence there as your personal Savior. Let Him in, you must. You must entrust Him with your entire being and make a commitment to live in accordance with His instructions- the word of God. Revelation 3: 20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” His blessings become yours once He enters your life, and one of those blessings is PEACE WITH GOD which is the most important blessing.

Six. Believe You’ve Got! Having gone through those five step, you have to believe that you now have the most important thing in life. You may not feel anything on your body, but you will know that something has happened on the inside of you. Then, you will see the total transformation and peace that have come into you. In Hebrews 11: 6, the Bible says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” So, getting anything from God, requires exercising faith in Him and in His promises.

Now that you have received the most important thing in life, cherish and jealously guard it. Do not let it slip through your fingers. Stay close to God’s word, spend a lot of time in fellowship with God and His people, and finally, avoid ALL SINS.
